In addition, many of the airlines only show their best fares, or special web-only discount airfare rates, on their own websites and not on the travel websites. Because of this, it is a good idea to take the time to go to the web sites of the different carriers that cover your departure and arrival cities.

If you are headed for a major metropolitan area for your trip, then many times you can secure cheap airfares by searching for all of the flights that go into the smaller, neighboring airports. These smaller airports are often closer to the attractions or neighborhoods you might be headed to and they are usually much less busy, so things like security checks go faster. By flying into these smaller airdromes, you not only have a better chance of finding a discount airfare, but you will most likely have a more relaxed trip by avoiding some of the hubbub of the bigger landing fields.

At one time booking airplane fares through a online discount travel website was extremely frustrating because you had to be very flexible in your travel dates and time.
